Krityishaa Karunagaran

Krityishaa Karunagaran is a director, writer, and producer with over seven years of experience in the filmmaking industry. Born and raised in Ipoh, Perak, Krityishaa initially pursued a degree in Biotechnology before discovering her true passion for storytelling. She later graduated in Digital Film and Television from Lim Kok Wing University, fully embracing her creative aspirations.

Currently a director and writer at Buzzworks Films, Krityishaa has worked on a diverse range of projects, including commercials, short films, and series, collaborating with major brands such as Amazon, Astro, Haier, and Affin. Her filmmaking journey began in 2015 when she entered a competition driven by the prize of a new DSLR camera, sparking a deep, lasting passion for digital storytelling that has shaped her career ever since.

In 2024, Krityishaa’s project, ‘Tomorrow is Spring | வருங்காலம் வசந்தகாலம்’, a heartfelt, character-driven story of one woman’s perseverance in the face of constant setbacks, in order to give herself the life she deserves, took home the Grand Prize award at the BMW Shorties, along with a slew of other supporting awards such as Best Director, Best Story, Best Actress and the People’s Choice Award. Krityishaa is currently in the process of directing her BMW funded film – a story grounded in the cultural fabric of Malaysia.
